This trendy modern eatery boasts twists on classic world cuisine, providing an array of unique options including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free ones, as well. The Herb Box has two locations in Scottsdale, AZ. When I ventured into one last week with my boyfriend and his family for Sunday brunch, I thought we accidentally stepped into an Anthropology clothing store. With beautiful décor and an abundance of natural lighting, this place is great for occasions ranging from getting brunch with the girls, to going on a dinner date with your partner. There’s also an outdoor patio that’s probably great for when it’s not 110 degrees out.
Most importantly, the food is delicious. All five of us loved our meals. Despite using simple and whole ingredients, all dishes were creative and extremely flavorful. I had the gluten-free Smoked Salmon Hash ($14), filled with fingerling potatoes, the smokiest salmon I’ve ever had, vegetables, and a soft egg. My house-made Bloody Mary, which is only $5 on Sundays (along with mimosas), was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Another breakfast option that caught my eye was the gluten-free Cinnamon Buckwheat Pancakes ($9), with blueberries and honey butter. There are at least six other gluten-free options on the breakfast and brunch menu, so you really can’t go wrong.
We made future plans to come back for lunch or dinner, and I already have my eye on the vegan Gypsy Rolls ($11), with hemp seed hummus, kale, tahini, avocado, mango, and mint. They also have a vegan Nosh Board ($6-19) that allows you to choose from a variety of vegan tapas. While I’m highlighting the gluten-free and vegan options, which are often the safest choices for people with food allergies, the menu offers mouthwatering seafood, chicken, pork, and beef options, as well. If you’re ever in Scottsdale, this place comes highly recommended from me.
